The coffee shop and community hub temporarily closed in June 2020 with a list of required updates and refurbishments. Through its relationship with NBBC, the Lovell team stepped forward with staff volunteering their time to improve its facilities while working with subcontractors to gain materials. By utilising their relationships with other local businesses, Lovell has been able to supply and fit a new hot water system, new flooring to the kitchen area and reconfigured the electrics to suit the new layout. Lovell also made a financial contribution towards new kitchen equipment.
Revd Jet Jones, director of regeneration and community transformation at Saints Nuneaton and CEO of Together for Change, said: “A huge thank you to the Lovell team in the Midlands including Sandra Shiner, Lorraine Hardy, Debbie Vincent, Jonathan Bates, and Graham Machon for their amazing dedication in getting vital work finished at our centre. It would have been near impossible for us to raise the £5,000 needed for this work which is essential to continue the wide range of support we offer to the community.”
Carl Yale, regional refurbishment director, said: “Saints Nuneaton is an invaluable community regeneration project and one that we’re proud to support as part of our partnership with NBBC. This is a fantastic social value example of the impact that can be made when a small group come together with a shared vision of doing something positive. I hope that the skills of the Lovell refurbishment team make a big difference to those using the hub.
“In addition to our commitment to support the communities in which Lovell works, we are also celebrating 50 years of Lovell Partnerships. As part of this, 2021 has been full of acts of kindness and a real team-effort to make a difference to worthy causes by Lovell teams across the country. We’re thrilled that our work with Saints Nuneaton can be part of such a special year.”
The Lovell team was also joined by generous local subcontractors including Midas Plumbing & Heating, Newey Electrical Installations Ltd, Dean Barnett Carpentry, and K&M Flooring.
