Every two years within the Eastern region, Lovell renews their charity partner as chosen by their employees. The home developer partnered with Candlelighters as their last charity partner after one of their employees received support from the charity when their child was previously diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
Across the UK, 2,418 children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer each year. Candlelighters support families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire, from additional support on the ward to the funding of vital research that looks into the causes and potential cures of childhood cancer.
Lovell has hosted various fundraising events during the two-year partnership with Candlelighters from charity sporting events to auctioning of their show home furniture.
The support provided by Lovell has been greatly appreciated. Iain Blackwood Hobbs, Partnership Executive at Candlelighters, said:
“The Lovell team have been an incredible charity partner and we can’t thank them enough for all their fundraising efforts in 2022 & 2023. From hosting fundraising events such as golf days and football tournaments to walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks and show home furniture sales, it has been great to see them get involved in so much for Candlelighters. The amount raised could send 16 families on a fully-funded respite holiday to get some much-needed escapism and to have the opportunity to make precious memories together as a family. All of the money raised allows us to continue providing emotional, practical, and financial support to families in Yorkshire affected by childhood cancer. The Lovell team has been a great charity partner and we hope to work with them again in the near future.”
This was echoed by Lovell. Robert Adams, Regional Managing Director at Lovell, added;
“We were delighted to help this magnificent cause which is so close to the heart of Lovell. We have seen first hand the impact their services have and it has been fantastic to have made a slight difference to some of the families involved. All of us at Lovell would like to wish them all the success they deserve in future.”
The Eastern region are delighted to announce that their next charity partner will be The Rob Burrows Centre for Motor Neurone Disease to raise funds to help build a specialist Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Care Centre in Leeds to give people living with MND the best quality of life.
